hpgw_ldws. The information on Lucille Ball is true and courtesy of imdb.com. My first draft for this was around 800 words, which definitely wouldn't work for a drabble. ;) I might turn this into a longer story . . .

It was dark, and Harry was bored. He tried to find a spider to befriend, but since Aunt Petunia had just cleaned, there weren't any. Harry sat on the floor with his ear pressed against the door of his cupboard, listening to Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia to pass the time.
Harry heard Aunt Petunia exclaim, "Lucille Ball died a year ago, and she's getting the Living Legacy Award from the Women's International Center!"
Uncle Vernon grunted, and Harry heard the newspaper rustle. "Why should I care some ruddy actress died over a year ago?"
"Lil- I always thought she was funny."
"Your sister liked Lucille Ball. Figures. Both red-headed freaks . . ."
Harry couldn't believe it! His Mum had red hair. He hadn't known and strained to listen more closely.
"Actually, Lucille Ball was a natural brunette."
Uncle Vernon snorted. "Who would ever want red hair?"
"My mother had red hair, too." Aunt Petunia sounded angry.
"Well, I guess not all red heads are freaks like your sister, then." Uncle Vernon harrumphed.
"Now Vernon, my family was happy when Lily and I were children. We all enjoyed watching "I Love Lucy" together, and "Yours, Mine, and Ours" was my Mum's favorite film. Even when Lily left to join the freaks, I hoped I'd get her back, but no! She had to go and fall in love with that horrible James Potter!" Aunt Petunia burst into tears.
"Pet! Now don't start crying . . ."
Harry heard Uncle Vernon's heavy footsteps following Aunt Petunia. He tried to picture his Mum with red hair but couldn't. Aunt Petunia mentioned once how horrible it was to see her sister's eyes in James Potter's face. He had his Mum's eyes, and looked like his Dad. Now he knew his Mum had red hair, and his Mum and Aunt Petunia liked each other before Mum joined the freaks. What did that mean? Harry wondered if he'd ever learn anything else about his parents. He crawled into bed, fell asleep, and dreamed of being rescued from captivity by a woman with flowing red hair.
